Meet The Faculty
Cheryl Williams is the Owner/Director of Cheryl's Dance Centre'. Cheryl began dancing at the age of 4 with Jeannie Lipe in Reidsville, NC. At the age of 13, she became an assistant teacher and continued to do so throughout her high school years. She furthered her education by attending UNC-Greensboro, where she received her BFA Dance Degree. She took over Jeannie’s School of Dance in 1982, soon after renaming the studio in 1987 to Cheryl’s Dance Centre’. She puts her heart, soul and patience into her dance career. Cheryl has performed in her BFA UNCG Senior Performance, Carowinds, High School Class Reunions, Greensboro Ballet Nutcracker, North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Intensive Performance, Rockingham County Junior Miss Program, festivals, parades and many recitals. She is married to Raymond and has a daughter "Miss Ashley" who is co-owner and teaches at the studio. She also has a son "Nick" who has previously danced at the studio. She has a beautiful granddaughter "Arabella" and a handsome grandson "Blake" that she loves with all of her heart.
Ashley is Co-Owner/Assistant Director of Cheryl's Dance Centre'. She graduated from RCHS where she excelled in cheerleading. She was co-captain and captain of the cheerleading squad. Ashley began dancing at the age of 2 with her mother, Cheryl Williams. She competed many years and has won many 1st place overall awards. She continued her love and passion for dance all through school and graduated from UNC-Greensboro, where she received her BA Dance Degree. She participated in the North Carolina School of Arts Summer Intensive program. She has attended many conventions such as Showstopper , Tremaine Dance Convention and Hollywood Dance Jamz. Ashley has performed in the Macy's Day Parade, The Orange Bowl Halftime Show, Harlem Globetrotters Halftime Show, UNCG Senior Performance and many more. She teaches at the studio full-time. She is married to Glenn and they have a daughter "Arabella" who also takes dance classes and she is on the Dance Company!
Cheryl Williams
Ashley Wade
Beth is an instructor at Cheryl's Dance Centre'. She started dancing at Cheryl's Dance Centre' when she was 7 years old and has danced for many years. She competed from 1995-2002, where she received various awards at numerous competitions. She has also attended several conventions through her dance years. She has performed in the Cherry Blossom parade in Washington D.C., the pregame show for the Harlem Globetrotters, malls, parades, and many recitals. She filmed 2 seasons with Whitney Way Thore during her dance classes on the show "My Big Fat Fabulous Life" on TLC. She is married to TJ and they have 2 daughters, Lily and Harper. Lily dances at the studio as well. She loves sharing her passion for dance with her children.
Beth Ashburn
Hagan Benfield
Hagan is an Instructor at Cheryl's Dance Centre'. She started dancing with Cheryl's Dance Centre' when she was 8 years old to 14. She then continued dancing at The Dance Center of Greensboro until she graduated high school. She has her Cecchetti Ballet Certification in grades 1-6 and she is working towards her Teacher Exam Grade 1. Hagan has won many 1st place overalls at dance competitions including: Bravo!, Star Talent and KAR. She has performed in the Greensboro Nutcracker Ballet as many starring roles including: Clara, Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow Queen and Dew Drop Fairy. She has also performed in many parades for CDC and half-time shows for Wake Forest Basketball and Soccer games! Hagan also attended Hope College Summer Intensive Ballet in Michigan. She moved to Wilmington, NC and studied under the United States International Ballet Company for a year and performed in pieces such as: S(HE), Architect of The Mind and many more! Hagan has a passion for dance and loves teaching at Cheryl's Dance Centre'.
Hayley Benfield
Hayley is a Tumble Instructor at Cheryl's Dance Centre'. Hayley began her dance journey at the age of 4 years old. She competed for CDC Dance Team from 2002-2010. She won many overall awards and multiple recognitions. While dancing, Hayley also competed in Level 4 gymnastics winning all around North Carolina State Championship. Hayley also cheered in school from the ages 11-19 years old. She also competed for Carolina Elite Cheer. Upon graduating she received cheer scholarships and cheered for Mars Hill University. Hayley has taught and choreographed multiple cheer summer camps for middle schools, high schools, colleges and tumbling classes. Hayleys son Jensen is also taking mommy and me class at Cheryl's Dance Centre'.
Alexis Slade
Alexis is an Instructor at Cheryl's Dance Centre'. She started dancing with Cheryl's Dance Centre' when she was 5 years old until her senior year at age 17. Alexis competed on the competition team from age 7 to 17. She won many overalls, 1st place awards and special awards! Alexis has performed in many parades with CDC and the Harlem Globetrotters Halftime Show. Alexis has performed with a singer called "Lil' Maq" out of Graham, NC. She also danced in his music video "Boyfriend." Alexis has been an assistant teacher for Cheryl's Dance Centre during her high school years. She has taught all ages in dance. She is currently attending UNC-Greensboro for her Bachelors Degree in Visual Performing Arts. She teaches all genres of dance and her favorite styles are hip-hop and contemporary. She has a 1 year old son named Kobe.
Lauri McClung
Lauri is one of the secretaries at Cheryl's Dance Centre'. She has been one of our secretaries for several years. She has a wonderful personality and is great with the dancers and parents. She handles all the payments, phone calls and much more. Her daughter Olivia dances at Cheryl's Dance Centre' on the Dance Company. Miss Lauri helps out in any way she can at the dance studio. She is very dedicated to Cheryl's Dance Centre'.
